He crashed in the the police scene. Upon enter the unit, Mr. Savage refused to be briefed from the officer all ready on the crime, using the gloves which was correct, he painted the finger print evidence, which the finger prints are important asset to any crime, perhaps the perpetrator had his prints on file.
He washed away the blood in the bathroom ,and brushed his own hair into the sink, and flushed toilet ? we wont know, and he put cigarette ashes on the victims body, and tasting a substance, believed to be heroin.
On any crime scene the officers converse and begin to take notes, wearing gloves and bagging any items of interest that may lead to an arrest and or a suspect.
They did not even id the body if it was male, female, young or old. This was a mock crime scene of what never to do, and people are trained in this area for a reason, so this will not happen.

Polygraphs
Most polygraphs are non conclusive, so this in my opinion is why they should not be used in the court of law, which means, most answers will be non truths, leaving the person to look like they have committed the crime, and or are guilty.
Polygraph test should be limited to 5 questions, and they are used wrong, interrogation style, and is WRONG..and called misuse.
Polygraphs measures peoples blood pressure heart rate, physiological thinking, this can help catch a criminal perhaps in the area of body langue, and cause the person to collapse under pressure.
